We have a winner alert! On Friday 30th August, Cumnock and District Rotary Club hosted their annual Charity Golf competition at Ballochmyle Golf club. With this being the 18th year of the event running, the rotary club wanted the event to be one to remember. Marking the 18th golf day in style, they opted to include a Hole in One competition. Up for grabs was a Vauxhall Corsa Griffin supplied by Kerr and Smith Vauxhall Cumnock. Their generous sponsorship made for an unforgettable round of golf for all who took part – and especially for one golfer!
Jim Clelland, a resident of Cumnock stepped up to the 17th tee, and from a tricky 164 yards away found his way through the bunkers and into the hole! To top it off, Jim was also a member of the winning 4 ball, alongside teammates David Kyle, Robert Donnelly and Bobby Ross. Jim was presented the keys to his new car by Club President Jim Liddell.
With the event in the name of charity, the Cumnock and District Rotary Club was able to raise a brilliant amount! The beneficiaries of the competition were a couple of deserving Charities, namely “Beautiful Inside & Out” and “Epilepsy Scotland” who were presented with cheques for £2,000 each on the night.
This is the first time that Hole in One cover was purchased for this iconic local golf day and we look forward to seeing Dave Perriman and everyone at the Cumnock and District Rotary Club for another shot at a fantastic prize. Who knows, they may be the first event to maintain a 100% hole in one record!
